Pall Rings |
The greatest single improvement in random packing came with the introduction of “windows” and “fingers” to the Raschig Ring packing. By opening up the Raschig Ring, by punching tabs in the wall of the ring to create internal drip points within the ring, both the capacity and the efficiency of the random packing were increased by 50-80%. The Pall Ring is characterized by having the same height as its diameter. This type of packing is used extensively in absorption and distillation services. AHPP High Performance Packing can replace it for better efficiency and capacity in the same bed height.Download: AMACS Pall Ring Packing Data Sheet Download: AMACS Improved Pall Ring |

SuperBlend 2-Pac Packing |
The AMACS patented SuperBlend 2-Pac technology is the mixture of 2 different sizes of AHPP high performance packing that achieves the capacity (and pressure drop) of the larger packing, and the efficiency of the smaller packing. This improvement in performance is made possible because the smaller packing fills the interstitial voids between the larger packing to create more effective surface area without loss of capacity. This technology was tested and verified by independent third party research at SRP.

Raschig Rings |
| Raschig Rings, first generation random packing, are normally made from metals like carbon steel or very high alloys such as Monel 400 or Hastelloy C276. Metal Rashig Rings are used in specific applications demanding good corrosion and thermal transfer. They are generally thicker than other random packing types and offer high durability and lower efficiency than other random packing types. This durable design has high crushing strength and long life so frequently used refinery and gas processing industries. Raschig Rings are available in variable sizes such as (mm): 25,38, and 50. The next generation of improvement to random packing was accomplished with the development of low aspect ratio packing. The “low aspect ratio” refers to the height of the packing being less than the nominal diameter of the packing. The low aspect characteristic promotes a better or “less random” fill of the packed bed. It settles in a manner that orients more of the flat surfaces parallel to vapor and liquid traffic than perpendicular to flow. This orientation increases capacity while still maintaining effective surface area for vapor/liquid contact. The AMACS AHPP High Performance Packing is the perfect example ¬– it is the mechanical equivalent of the Intalox Metal Tower Packing (IMTP®). AHPP Saddle-Rings offer higher capacity and efficiency than the comparably sized Pall Ring packing. IMTP® is the registered trademark of Koch-Glitsch LP.
